For our space project, some students in 5KA wrote and performed a song about space. Here are two brilliant examples…Today, five students from each Year 5 class had the chance to have their space questions answered by Dr. Lisa Germany in a Skype conference. Lisa is an astronomer from Swinburne University and she brought the Astro Tour to our school last 
year. In the Skype conference, we spoke into a microphone headset at our end, and we could hear Lisa through our computer speakers. We recorded the conference so that our classmates could also listen to Lisa’s answers. Lisa was also kind enough to send us some extra information about the questions we asked.

Each week in 5KA, we have a ‘Star of the Week’. The ‘Star of the Week’ does many classroom jobs for us, and they also get many perks, such as sitting on the couch instead of the floor, having Wally (our class mascot) at their table, and giving a ’show and tell’ presentation to the class at our class meeting. Most students bring along a bag containing seven items that represent different aspects of their life. We record these presentations into audio files and broadcast them to the world as ‘podcasts’. Podcasts are audio files that are published on the web. You can subscribe to a particular podcast and have the audio files automatically delivered to your computer whenever there are updates.
